Robbie Furze and Milo Cordell formed The Big Pink in 2007. Although both Londoners are of music stock, their debut, A Brief History of Love, was the first collection of songs that they were able to call their own. The genetics of The Big Pink are not incidental. Milo is behind the celebrated Merok label, instrumental in unleashing the mutant soul of Crystal Castles, SALEM, and Teengirl Fantasy upon the world, while Robbie was immersed in the European noise scene prior to the band’s genesis. Such disparate roots speak loudly of their ambitions, as they pull unexpected and marginal forms into the spotlight of a wider audience.

Having released their debut single, ‘Too Young To Love’ (on House Anxiety), to much acclaim in 2008, the band’s rising star quickly drew the attention of 4AD, who they penned a worldwide deal with in early 2009. Ignoring the pressure that befits such music industry hype, the band eloped to the Electric Lady Studios in New York to record and self-‐produce what was to become their epic debut album, A Brief History of Love. The final results were eleven stunning tracks set within a sound world that combines melody and beautiful abstract noise in a manner redolent of their eclectic musical backgrounds; "A modern masterpiece” Daily Telegraph (5/5), "These guys have got soul and they're not afraid to bare it" NME (8/10), "A study into the enormity of sound" Pitchfork (8.2).

After touring the record around the world throughout 2009 and the early part of the new decade, the band took a break to reconvene and start work on writing new material. Their only new release in 2010 was a mixtape entitled Tapes, released as part of the renowned !K7 mix series. Typically it showcased their love for the underground and forward thinking, which coupled with Milo’s continuing work with Merok, provided some clues as
to where next for the band.

2011 was spent getting their second album, Future This, down on to tape, a record that will see the light of day in January 2012. The first of the new set to go to the wider world came in September when ‘Stay Gold’ was concurrently given its world premiere on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show in his ‘Hottest Record in the World’ slot and it’s accompanying video made with the director Ollie Murray aired on their website. A song written with
Robert Frost’s poem Nothing Gold Can Stay in mind, the theme of doing what makes you happiest comes through loud and clear with the band
rising to the challenge, audibly enjoying being back.
